The Price of Freedom

(Martin Butler)
(c) 2005 The Price of Freedom

And he wore a red suit down the boulevard
When they tore it off his back it left him torn apart
And she wore a yellow dress by the river's edge
When they found her walking aimlessly she'd been left for dead

And now it takes much more than rain to wash away the sins and pain

Now they hear the call of freedom but they can't reply
Still they know the price of freedom never gets too high

As he got onto a train it was bright as day
But they took him down 'cause a guy that color shouldn't go that way
As they watched their house come down it was all they had
As the crowd were raising their voices up for the God they lack

And now it takes much more than rain to wash away the sins and pain

Now they hear the call of freedom but they can't reply
Still they know the price of freedom never gets too high

And he wore a red suit down the boulevard
When they tore it off his back it left him torn apart
And she wore a yellow dress by the river's edge
When they found her walking aimlessly she'd been left for dead

And now it takes much more than rain to wash away the sins and pain

Now they hear the call of freedom but they can't reply
Still they know the price of freedom never gets too high

And they know the price of freedom, and they know the price of freedom
And they know the price of freedom, and they know the price of freedom never gets too high, never gets too high
