Going Down Last (acoustic demo)

This is the song demo I used for copyrighting. One take in a living room with a cheap mic, no production, as long as the parts are there, it's all I need for that purpose. This is a story about absent friends from the New York music scene.
Michael went down on the side of that road
Didn’t see the truck coming with an overload
and Eliot cried through his last few days
Couldn’t find his own face in the needles haze
And when I go down, I'm going down fast
But when I go down, I’m goin’ down last
Johnny was a rocker in the New York band
Was a real heartbreaker when he made his last stand
Dee Dee and Johnny told the truth in your face
Took a generation with them when they left this place
And when I go down, I'm going down fast
But when I go down, I’m goin’ down last
Days go by like an acid rain
But I wouldn't trade one minute for a life without pain
So many, so young, so many, so young
And I loved them all, and I loved them all
And when I go down, I'm going down fast
But when I go down, I’m goin’ down last
I’m goin’ down last, I’m goin’ down last
I’m goin’ down last, I’m goin’ down last
