Going Down Last (song demo)
(Martin Butler)
Martin Butler
This was done at my friend Mike DiLalla's apartment in one take as a demo for sending to the copyright office. It will be one of the main songs on the next CD. It''s about my feelings regarding the passing of some of my old friends from the NY Punk scene and I hope, the beginning of a new musical direction.

Michael went down on the side of that road
Didn’t see the truck coming with an overload
Eliot cried through his last few days
Couldn’t find his own face in the needle's haze
And when I go down, I'm goin' down fast
Yeah, when I go down, I’m goin’ down last
Johnny was a rocker in the New York band
Was a real Heartbreaker when he made his last stand
Dee Dee and Johnny told the truth in your face
Took a generation with them when they left this place
And when I go down, I'm goin' down fast
But when I go down, I’m goin’ down last
Days go by like an acid rain,
but I wouldn't trade one minute for a life without pain
So many, so young, so many, so young
And I loved them all, and I loved them all
But when I go down, I’m goin’ down fast
Yeah, when I go down, I’m goin’ down last
I’m goin’ down last, I’m goin’ down last
I’m goin’ down last, I’m goin’ down last
